Asparagus Fern (Asparagus Aethiopicus)

These gorgeous looking plants are an absolute delight to have indoors. With grass like structure and soft hanging spurs, the Asparagus Fern is quite easy to grow indoors. It grows very quickly; hence one has to take care of overgrowth.

The asparagus fern plant  is normally found in a hanging basket, decorating the deck or patio in summer and helping to clean indoor air in winter. When growing asparagus ferns outside, place them in a part sun to shady location for best foliage growth. While the asparagus fern plant may sometimes flower, the tiny white flowers are small and not necessary for the beauty of growing asparagus fern.

Although, they resemble a soft bushy fur, their spurs are quite prickly and it is best to cover your hands while handling them. It can adorn your window as a creeper set to cover your curtain rods.

Asparagus ferns are known for their gorgeous white flowers and small red berries. It is best to keep it out of reach from children.

Instructions for planting Asparagus fern indoors:

Light: Indirect or filtered sunlight works best for them. Exposing them to direct sunlight will see it wilt or wither away.

Water: The soil of the fern needs to be kept moist at all times. Do not over water them as the roots will tend to rot. You need to water them every several weeks during winters.

Temperature: Asparagus ferns like tropical and humid weather. Although, humid weather works best for these ferns; during extreme summers, it is best to keep them in a shaded area to avoid direct sun exposure.
