Most varieties of this plant grow 4-5 feet tall. Their bloom ranches from almost 10 inches big to 2-inch pompoms. They come in virtually all shades of the rainbow.
Grow dahlias for gorgeous, colorful flowers that bloom from midsummer through autumn, when many plants are past their best! The tubers are planted in the ground in late spring. In colder zones, you do need to dig up and store the tubers in the fall if you wish to grow them as perennials (or, treat as annuals).
Dahlias are tuberous perennials, and most have simple leaves that are segmented and toothed or cut. The compound flowers may be white, yellow, red, or purple in colour. Wild species of dahlias have both disk and ray flowers in the flowering heads, but many varieties of ornamentals such as the common garden dahlia
Sun: This plant needs the full sun to thrive.
Water: Once they have been established they will need to be watered 2-3 times a week with a sprinkler. Do not water them right after planting, instead wait for the dahlia plant to appear before you start watering them.
