Abutilon is a shrub that blooms during the summer. The blooms are saucer-shaped, and the stems have gray, hairy leaves. The shrub may grow to around 15 feet, and many hybrids have been developed that you can enjoy.
Abutilon is a bell shaped flower and the color of the flower ranges from yellow to pink to orange to deep red. The leaves of this flower are palmate like a maple therefore it is also called flowering maple. The calyx in the flower has a cup-shaped appearance, greenish in color and it’s about 1.5cm long.
The flowers of wild species are most often yellow or orange, but can be red or pinkish, sometimes with a darker center.
The stamens are fused into a tube lined at the mouth with anthers. Inside the tube is the branching style with head-like stigmas.
The fruit is a rounded or hemispherical schizocarp with up to 20 segments, each containing a few seeds.
