The Anemone is also known as the Windflower. This plant is a perennial that spreads while growing.It comes in a variety of colors, from white to purple, with some species not spreading quite as far while growing.
Anemone blanda, also known as Grecian windflowers, grow from corms that are planted in fall for flowers the following spring. These low-growing plants have mounding, finely textured foliage and daisy-like flowers. Anemone blanda is an ideal companions for other mid-spring bulbs such as tulips and daffodils.
Anemone coronaria blooms in early spring or late summer, depending on where you live and when the corms are planted. The showy flowers have dark centers and brightly colored petals.
The flowers last from summer through a portion of the autumn, making them a great addition to your garden. Anemones are distributed throughout the world but occur most commonly in woodlands and meadows of the north temperate zone.
Many varieties are cultivated in gardens for their colourful flowers.
